Our story
A Swedish idea, made in Japan.
Peter Höljö first came to Japan in 1987. It was at home in Sweden that he met the world's first photoepilation device, and it was in Tokyo that he decided to build a company around it. Scandinavia Corporation was founded in 1998.
At that time, hair removal in Japan meant waxing and threading. Our own POWERLITE® made the treatment fast, comfortable and affordable, and salons and clinics adopted it in numbers. In 2013 the house was reborn as Scandinavia Service Co., Ltd., so that design, manufacture, marketing and distribution could live under one roof.
We are a Japanese innovator across five quiet disciplines, hair removal, facial, body, hair growth and relaxation. Every device is developed in-house and assembled in Japan, and every part is kept in stock long after the sale. Dr·Medic is the name we give that work when it leaves the atelier and enters a home.
Our motto has not changed in almost thirty years, to continuously contribute to the advancement of beauty.

Face to face
A demonstration in your space, or an hour with us in Naka-Meguro. We would rather you feel the difference than read about it. There is no charge for a first visit.
Safety
Every device is developed in-house and built, assembled and inspected in Japan. One hundred percent domestic manufacture, made to be used for years, not seasons.
Service
Because we manufacture, we keep parts. A service call is answered around the clock, and a response follows within forty-eight hours.
Milestones
Nearly thirty years, quietly.
- 1998
Scandinavia Corporation is founded in Tokyo, bringing the first photoepilation technology from Sweden to Japan.
- 2013
The house is reborn as Scandinavia Service Co., Ltd. Design, manufacture, marketing and distribution are brought under one roof.
- 2014
The first Dr-PRO is launched, the beginning of the series that carries the house today.
- 2019
Dr-PRO Slim and Beauty Secret are introduced, the Dr-PRO Series in its modern form.
- 2023
Twenty-five years. The Dr·Medic Compression Series is launched alongside the devices.
- 2026
Dr·Medic joins the Hololife Summit in Amsterdam as a Gold Sponsor, with Peter Höljö as a featured speaker.
